This year, it seemed like we sort of got back to some semblance of normality. I say “seemed like” because while there were in-person gatherings, the resumption of travel, and the ability to go about our business as normal … there were definite changes that likely will not revert or “go back” to the way they used to be. We now live with a stream of seemingly endless COVID vaccine shots and boosters, some rules and regulations for the good of public health, the reality that work-at-home proved far more feasible than many employers would have thought (or maybe wanted), and more.
2022 proved personally difficult for me on a number of fronts and in a variety of ways. I’ll avoid going into too many details here, but I certainly put on more than my fair share of weight over the last several years. I’m finally getting around to addressing the situation, and it’s going to be a long and slow road. It took a number of years to reach my current weight, and it’s going to take just as long to get it back down to something manageable. I know I’m hardly alone in that arena.
Once again this year, I spent some time thinking about whether or not I’d actually be able to pull the mixes together and get them ready in time for the holiday. Despite concerns and reservations I had about the process (a common theme), it ultimately proved relatively straightforward to pull everything together and make the mixes happen. They are a labor of love, and as long as I know that at least a person of two gets something out of them, I’ll likely continue with them. But I’m not getting any younger (the odometer rolled over 51 in 2022), and who knows how long I’ll have my hearing. Yes, that’s a joke – I hope …
